April Topic - When Is There Time for Anything? Finding Joy in the 162,335 Minutes We Spend Caring For Ourselves

Let’s be real—life can feel like a constant race against time. Between work, family, and the endless to-do lists, it’s easy to feel like you don’t have a single moment to spare. And then there’s routine self-care (showering, sleep, eating, exercise), which somehow ends up feeling like just *one more thing* you’re supposed to squeeze in.

But what if we changed the way we think about the time we spend taking care of ourselves? What if it wasn’t about carving out hours you don’t have, or following a long list of “shoulds”? What if it was about using the time you *do* have to turne the mundane to-do list into something of joy? Something you look forward to daily?

I recently read an article, How Much Time Do You Spend on Your Health and Wellbeing?, and it got me thinking about how much pressure we put on ourselves to “do it all” when it comes to self-care. The truth is, caring for ourselves doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. It can be as simple as taking one small moment in your day and making it magical.

Finding Joy in the Daily Mundane Tasks

Here’s an example: Think about your daily shower. It’s selfcare you’re already doing, even though it might feel rushed at times, a chores, or you don't want to bother with it at all. But what if you turned that everyday routine into a moment of joy? Imagine adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the steam, lighting a candle, playing an energizing or calming playlist, or even bringing a plant into the bathroom to create a spa-like vibe. Suddenly, that ordinary shower becomes an extraordinary act of self-care.

The same goes for other small moments in your day. Maybe it’s savoring your morning coffee without distractions, taking a 5-minute walk to clear your mind, or adding a few gentle stretches before getting out of bed. It’s not about doing *more*—it’s about making the things you’re already doing feel more intentional and joyful.

Let’s Simplify Wellness

Wellness doesn’t have to mean overhauling your entire life. It doesn’t have to mean waking up at 5 AM to meditate or spending hours at the gym (unless those things bring you joy!). It can be as simple as asking yourself:

✨ *What’s one small thing I can do today that will make me smile?*

✨ *How can I make the time I already have feel more meaningful?*

Your Challenge for April

This month, I challenge you to pick one small thing that brings you joy and commit to making it part of your daily or weekly routine. It could be anything—a calming shower ritual, a moment of gratitude journaling, or even just stepping outside for fresh air.

Let’s Talk About It

I’d love to hear from you:

✨ What’s one small, joyful thing you already do—or want to start doing—to care for yourself?

✨ How can you make an everyday moment (like your shower, coffee, or commute) feel more special?

Feel free to share in the comments—your ideas might inspire someone else in the community!

Why This Matters

Wellness doesn’t have to be big, complicated, or time-consuming. It just has to feel good for *you*. Let’s make this month about finding joy in the small, meaningful moments and giving ourselves permission to slow down and savor them.

You’ve got this! 💛

With love and wellness,

Crystal
