I'm going to say it, it's unpopular but needs to be talked about. Stop fast-forwarding through the seasons (holidays included), it’s keeping you from the gifts and moments right in front of you. Try adopting Mother Nature’s rhythms instead. Slow down, sit back, and take in what Winter has in store:
December - February: A time of journeying inwards during the dark and cold winter months. This is marked by the Winter Solstice on December 21st (the shortest day and longest night). It's time to focus on deep rest and preparing for brighter days ahead like the trees, flowers, and animals hibernating. Don't fight against this, stop or even slow down on the partying, traveling, buying, planning and doing, rest! The deep rest through the winter months will rejuvenate you, bring you energy, creativity, beauty, and a fresh start. Appreciate the still and quiet of nature, everything from the trees, flowers, and animals are hibernating.
There's no need for, "New Year, New Me" right now. Rest through winter and nurture yourself. Envision what you want for spring. As winter ends in March, you can begin to start work on the “new you” and implement the goals you envisioned, while feeling rested and full of joy, just as mother nature has intended. Maybe this is why when we fight against rest during winter we end up missing our "New Year's goals", think about it.

I'm looking forward to lots of soups/stews, cozy nights in under my favorite throw, sewing, reading, and the occasional walk in the quiet and calm of nature.
